AFPA Chairperson, Mrs. Deirdre Murphy:
“We are all aware of the ongoing challenges that we have to face as practitioners of TCM in Ireland. It is essential that we engage with the public and decision-makers if we are to safeguard our continued role as providers of acupuncture treatments within the optimal context of TCM. Earlier this year we submitted two parliamentary questions (PQs) to the Minister for Health, one of which related to the academic validation of our profession, and subsequently in December 2017 I had the opportunity to have a private meeting with Minister for Health Mr. Simon Harris T.D.. At this meeting we discussed the potential of professional acupuncturists to contribute to health and wellbeing in Ireland and also the necessity of maintaining professional standards to protect the public.“
Minister of Health, Mr. Simon Harris T.D. and AFPA Chairperson, Mrs. Deirdre Murphy.
